KATHERINE JOYCE MAENDEL
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Katherine Maendel at the age of 80.
Kathy will be lovingly remembered by her husband Dave; daughters Ruth and Naomi; her brothers, Norman, Peter, and Donald, and their families.
She was predeceased by her parents, John and Anna; and brothers Robert and Allan.
Kathy was born December 29, 1945, in Winkler, MB. She grew up on the family farm near Roland, MB, and spent her early years in the vicinity of Winkler. She began her education in a one-room school nearby, and upon graduating Grade 12, attended Winkler Bible School.
She met her husband, Dave, in Winnipeg, and they married in the spring of 1974. After the birth of their first daughter, Kathy retired from nursing to become a full-time mom and partner with her husband Dave in their business Newdale Construction. She was a loving, devoted, and multi-talented mother, and passed on her passions for cooking and knitting.
Kathy and Dave lived their entire married life in Winnipeg. After a 15-month battle with cancer, Kathy passed away peacefully, surrounded by her daughters, husband, and dear friend Elma.
A Funeral service will be held on Friday, April 24 at 11:00 a.m. at Westwood Community Church, 401 Westwood Dr, Winnipeg.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Back to the Bible Canada, Friends Housing, and the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation.
